INTERNATIONAL BEAR SHOWS ATTENDING FOR 2007
Walt Disney World, Epcot, Florida, USA Teddy Bear and Doll Weekend,
May 18th, 19th & 20th, 2007. Confirmed

Walt Disney World,

Our 17 day trip to Walt Disney World, New York, Hollywood, Los Angelos May, 2006
We had some very excited children with my mother who travelled with Phil and I on their first trip to the USA.
First stopping in New York for 3 nights
then missed our airflight to Orlando Florida, although we were all there a few hours early, we were in the wrong JFK building, chatting away in the Starbucks Cafe drinking what else but their assorted ranges of Coffee's, and missed the Flight Call! We did finally arrive later in the afternoon to Disney World......

We had a fantastic time at the Walt Disney Epcot Show in Orlando Florida. The weather is very similiar to Australia, warm and sunny. On arriving, we were amazed at the granduer of the Beach Club Resort where we were to reside for the next 4 nights. Set up was on Friday. Trading was over the weekend. We sold out within 20 minutes of the door opening on the Saturday, so spent Sunday in the Theme Parks with my 3 children, mother and husband Phil.
Overall the show was fantastic and we got to meet many new collectors and catch up with other Bear and Doll Artist friends. We look forward to 2007.

After the Disney Show, we stayed at a lovely Resort for a further 5 days in Florida where we travelled down to the Tampa and up to Daytona Beach, then onto HOLLYWOOD, Santa Monica Beach and didn't leave without doing some Downtown LA shopping.

WHAT'S NEWS  - FIRST IN THE WORLD EVER IN TEDDY BEAR MAKING HISTORY -
Enlarge picture

I have come up with the idea of hand painted oils painted by myself and a few other oils that will be hand painted by other artists, some will actually be vintage oil paintings that I have collected over the years. These paintings are combined in with mohair teddy bears. The photos depicted are of my very first proto-type. The Bruin is called 'Master Painter' and he is 27" in height.

I will be making only a handful of these bruins each year. All paintings will be different and i am currently working on two victorian girls which is almost finished, then will come my Victorian cats and others..... None of the other bruins will have a centre seam down the middle of the belly...as i have perfected other ideas and other ways of combining these oils with mohair. Some paintings will be smaller and the bruins smaller. I do hope that you will enjoy my range of hand painted bruins, they are very timely to make, paint and create! This is my own idea that i have had for some time but only in the past few months had some time spare to put my love of old style paintings together with my love of the Teddy Bear. If you see these happening elsewhere you know where the ORIGINAL IDEA CAME FROM!! ME...

After 10 years in Australia exclusively with my work, Oz Matilda has finally decided to venture out and into other Countries. We are thrilled that we are getting noticed from very prestigious retail outlets throughout the world with the latest Gallery asking us to stock our range of bruins being from FRANCE. I believe this Gallery is very upmarket and the most prestigious Gallery in France. Thanking everyone for your fabulous comments on my one of a kind bruins....it is much appreciated.

FREE THE BEARS AUCTION RAISES $40,500.00
September, 2002, was a busy time here in Australia, approximately 35 talented Aussie Artists combined with 30 celebrities got together to raise monies for Free the Bears Fund. An amount of $20,500.00 was raised from the artists/celebrity bears Auction held on Australian Ebay. A further $20,000 was raised at the Australian museum auctioning off sporting celebrity memorabilia. All monies raised helped to build needed Sanctuaries in India to house and save 1200 dancing bears. This was a fabulous joint effort by many. The first group of dancing bears were rescued and placed in their new homes early December 2002. Further negotiations continue to free the rest of the bears. To view more information about Free the Bears, please visit their website, they really need your help too!

CHALLENGES
I'm often asked what is the biggest challenge in my career...well there are many, but one of the most exhausting challenges was producing 60 x 24" bears for the Australian Rugby League Football in 1998. These bears were the last and only licenced product for any bear artist within Australia. The ARL then became the NRL in 1999. I chose two of my cousins to sign the bears being, Craig Field then playing for Manly Sea-Eagles and Matthew Seers who was playing for North Sydney Bears. It took just on 8 months to complete the whole edition. That was a challenge especially as I was the only one stuffing at the time all bears were quickly snapped up by collectors. At the time I was involved with Free the Bears Fund and we donated 1 each of these signed bears including a full size jersey signed by Manly Sea-Eagles Team and football for raffles. Over a short period of 5 weeks, over $6,000 was raised to help 'the real bears'.....
